SASKATCHEWAN INCREASES AUTHORITY FOR IMMIGRATION POLICY – THE OPPORTUNITY IS HERE

During a meeting in North Battleford last week, Saskatchewan Governor Mr Moe Scott shared more about the direction of Saskatchewan’s settlement programs. Specifically, the province of Saskatchewan has submitted an application to the federal government to request more autonomy for candidates who wish to settle in the Province.

He said that Saskatchewan needs more workers and must enhance autonomy in the settlement sector of the province.

In other words, if the above request is approved by the federal government, Saskatchewan immigration candidates will have more reasons to celebrate:

1. For those who already have a Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee, when you apply for a Work Permit, you won’t have to worry about being rejected. Due to the great demand for human resources in the province, the federal government will favor granting Work Permits to candidates who have been “recognized” by the province of Saskatchewan. Once the provincial government recognizes your case, it will be easier for the federal government to do the same.

2. When it comes to the processing of PR documents, the federal government will only check the applicant’s criminal history and health condition, without strict check of the work history.

3. However, it is not that Canada will completely skip the background check, but it will do a more thorough background check when applying for a Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee. The processing of the application will be detailed and scrutinized than before, but once this stage is done, the applicant can easily apply for a Work Permit and PR without fear of future checks from the federal government.
